Happy Easter

Sure doesn't feel like Easter. Sure, the ham is in the fridge and a few chocolate eggs are decorating the counter, but the main visual around this house is moving boxes. Baby jail has been reconstructed with walls of boxes. The hallways are lined with them. Even the changing table in the bathroom has been replaced by nine boxes. Boxes everywhere.

Today is our last day to pack up. Lots more boxes to fill. Two major cabinets to take apart. Tomorrow we will take a few car loads to our vacation house in Vaassen. Sure will be nice to have a bit of a vacation in our new town!

This past week has been a blur of packing and taking care of final arrangements. Thankfully, Claire was able to come Wednesday night and has been a big help!

Boxes everywhere.

Puzzling - often happens before dinner.

Easter morning...

Packing Up

Another week that was packed full. The boxes are stacking up around the house. Abigail and Amélie are spending the weekend with Hans and Erna. Seems like they are having a blast. We needed the time to get busy with the move. Took five carloads away yesterday. The house looks a lot different!

I didn't get as far as I would have liked with the woodworking projects, but that is how it usually goes. The grill cabinet has been fun to make and I will deliver the first piece out of three later this week, along with the TV Cabinet.

We only have one week left in this house and there is a lot that needs to be done. Good thing Claire is coming for a visit! She will be a big help. Strange to have the house so quiet...

Climbing Out

It has been a very busy, but good week. The weather here starts to feel more and more like spring. We got so much done. Started with finalizing the orders for windows, carpeting, and dining room chairs. Our house got sold. We also finalized the arrangements for our temporary housing, which looks nice, daycare in Vaassen, and lots of other things.

I finished making the TV Cabinet and brought it inside to be finished. Today I will start on the next project. I want to get as far as possible with that before the move. We had a lot of extra time at school this week due to report meetings, so that didn't help. The girls continue to do well though. Abigail seems to have another jump in her vocabulary - saying new words and she even combined two words to make a little sentence...

America in Apeldoorn

On Thursday we had an appointment at our new house to get the windows measured around dinner time. We brought the girls with us for the first time. They had fun. We went to an American Grill-house for dinner. It was a lot of fun. The girls were such good sports putting up with a late dinner. After that we picked out some dining room chairs and the girls continued to be really good even though it was way past their bedtime. They had a lot of fun playing in the furniture store.

Still haven't signed for the sale of this house yet. It was supposed to happen Friday but things got delayed. We have a lot of things pending on that signature, so hopefully it happens soon!

This week will be busy with report meetings at school and lots of things to take care of. I want to finish Hans & Erna's TV Cabinet, which is, of course, taking longer than expected. I also want to get the next project mostly done in the next few weeks. We shall see...

Abigail can put these puzzles together, but Amélie still struggles.

Hans & Erna's TV Cabinet - used to be an old table, bed, and floor.

Our future snowboarder. Amélie is a daredevil.

Running up and down the front walk to our new house.
