Plugging Along

As I slowly allow more rest moments to enter my day the more tired I seem to get. I wonder how long it will take for the extra rest to make me feel more rested. I wake up tired and it doesn't seem to go away unless I am completely focused on something.

More and more systems are up and running so that makes it nicer to live here. Screens are working really well, we got a sun screen installed upstairs which is great, and even hooked up the deep fryer and built a table for it. The stereo is now complete as well - the subwoofer has been repaired. What a relief.

I am slowly making progress on the workshop. It is a massive undertaking. Got the air curtain installed and running properly. Lots of wood is now stowed between the rafters so I have some room to work. The sound insulation and walls are going up now. I hope it is finished before I leave for the States, but I doubt it will be. Everything takes so long.

The girls are getting back into their routine. Not so much screaming any more. Amélie was really having trouble settling down in bed, but hopefully that is behind us for now.

No More Boxes!

This is the first weekend that we have not felt the need to do anything. What a relief! There is still a ton of work to be done, but nothing time-critical. All of the moving boxes were picked up on Tuesday. Now we have so much space!

Mom left on Thursday. Abigail keeps asking about her. We were able to get so much done because my parents were here, but now we really need to relax. It will be awhile before we can really decompress from the loads of built up stress. Life keeps getting better though!

Yesterday we found a tricycle for the girls. The loved it so much that it just turned into fights and tantrums over who gets to sit on it. Today we will go get another. Maybe go to a park too if the weather cooperates....

Slowing Down

My dad left this week but while he was here we sure got a lot done! By the time my mom goes in a few days, we will really be able to slow down and enjoy the house. All of the moving boxes will be unpacked (albiet in some temporary storage) and the rooms will be fairly functional. No shortage of projects that still need to be done, but all the time-critical stuff will be finished. What a relief!

Abigail and Amélie really hit their breaking point on Friday. They were up in the night which hasn't happened in a long time. In need of attention from Mommy and Daddy. We just haven't been giving them enough of it - but now that can change. Good timing.

We have come such a long way in a short period of time. It is hard to remember what it was like and what we have done. Everyone around here is sick and tired of it. Haven't even had time to upload pictures in these past weeks. Time for some rest!

The Work House

My parents had a really nice vacation in Switzerland. Then they came here. Lots of work to do! We have been making progress though. Got the sink installed on the top floor along with the window screen. Baseboards have been cut and painted. We will start on installing them today. Oven hood is cleaned out. Bookshelves are installed and the study is mostly unpacked. Sandbox is open. Found a table saw....

The little ones are happy too. Lots of extra attention from Grandma and Grandpa. Abigail (and Amélie once) is starting to put together little sentences. Daycare told us their language skills are good which we were surprised about. Twins are generally behind and so are kids raised bilingually. Nice to hear!

The clutter is really starting to get on my nerves. Even though we have gotten rid of over 2/3 of our stuff and we continue to get rid of things, we have too much. I am to the point where the moving boxes are really bothering me, but we don't have a place for a lot of it yet. I need to build in some cabinets. Wish Dad could stay longer to help out with that!
